I will be leaving for Iceland on 30th March.
April 4
Hello there everyone!
Well after a long flight I am at last in Iceland! We left Brisbane at 1pm
on Easter Sunday and after many hours of flying we arrived in Iceland on
Easter Monday. We were flying into time so my Easter Sunday was a long
one!
We stopped off in Singapore for 6 hours and just took it easy and prepared
ourselves for the 14 hour direct flight to London. We watched all the
people go by as it is a very busy airport and just like a little town
within the airport. We left Singapore at midnight and flew the 14 hours
direct to London........we exercised a lot and watched a few movies along
the way, and I was very good at drinking lots of water!
At long last we arrived in London and we had another 6 hours to wait! Then
at last we boarded the aircraft bound for Iceland. We were very pleased
as we were tired and we really needed to do something with out hair!
Three hours later we arrived in Iceland.
I watched from the window the most beautiful glacier which is called
Vatnajokull, the sun was shining over the snow covered areas and it was
just the most fabulous sight that I have ever seen. Then at long last we
landed on this country which has no trees guys! Can you believe it!
Anyway a friend picked us up from the airport and we went home to rest and
then tomorrow I should be off to my host family. I believe the girl that
is going to take care of me is very nice and is looking forward to meeting
me and I believe her name is Berglind.
My host, Kristjana, who brought me here, has told me that Berglind is
lovely and we will be in touch with you guys as soon as I get settled into
my new home.
See you soon!

Hi
I have had a real good time. I am living with a family of five, a couple
and three girls. The girls are Sigrún Edda (7), Berglind (11) and Hugrún
(14). They live in Kopavogur a town lying next to Reykjavik. I was really
cold the first days in Iceland but Berglind lent me a nice rug to keep me
warm. There was a confirmation in the family. It was Hugrún who got
confirmed, it was great. Everyone in the family was busy preparing for the
big day. After the ceremony in church there was a party for the family and
friends at home, every room in the house was filled with people, it was
great fun. I have been to a few shows lately, they have all been fun.
Sigrún Edda and Berglind took part in a great balletshow a few weeks ago.
The show was in the Icelandic Operahouse (it is really just the oldest
cinemahouse in Reykjavik). There have been shows in school too. The kids
in school have been learning songs and dances and they set up a show, each
class had a special show. Hugrún and Berglind play in the Kopavogur
Schoolbrassband with 120 other kids. The band had a great concert a few
weeks ago and I was there too. The band also played in a parade on First
Day of Summer. Icelanders celebrate that day. I have not noticed the
summerheat yet,but the trees are getting greener. (Yes, there are trees in
Iceland). The thermometer shows from 2° to 10° C. It is not as cold as it
sounds, but the weather is never to be counted on. It can rain for days,
but you can also see all kinds of weather in just one day, sun and heavy
wind, then pouring rain and just a few minutes later it is snowing. In the
evening all the snow is gone, all melted.
I have been travelling around in the family car, I have a special window
for myself and a great view. I am sending you a few pictures of me.

Hi 7- A
Now my stay in Iceland is over and I am going to the Faroe Islands. I have
been invited to stay with Birna, a very nice girl from the islands. School
is out in Iceland since June 7th until August 23rd. Since I last wrote you
the girls have been busy taking exams and getting ready for the summer
holidays. I haven´t been in school much except for a few days in 1st
grade with Sigrun Edda. I had a great time there. I also had a great time
when the kids in 1st grade met with their parents after scool and played
and BBQ-ed together. One Saturday I went with the family to Reykjavik
center to see 15 Brass bands marching together in pouring rain. They also
held a concert outside and almost every one was wet to the bone, except
me, because Sigrun Edda held me inside her raincoat. Another raining
Saturday I went fishing with the family. We caught 2 fish, trout but we
lost 2 big ones! We ate the fish in the evening, they were delicious.
These last days have been great, sunny and warm. I spent my last night in
Iceland sleeping in a tent and it was nice and bright, the nights are
bright in Iceland in the summertime. The girls just camped in the backyard
and a friend stayed over. I look forward to travelling to the Faroe
Islands because my Icelandic friends have told me that it´s a great place
to visit. They have been there for a few days once at Birna´s family and
they were great hosts. I am travelling via air mail, I am OK with that
because I am a bit tired after those last days. Thanks a lot for a great
time in Iceland, the Icelandic family tells me they have had a great time
hosting me.

Hello, just a few words from Kidd. I'm visiting the Faroe Islands, staying with some nice people and Birna is my friend. She is 10 years old, has two other sisters and two cats. I like them. I have been here since 17/6/02, but I have been in Denmark and Germany with Birna and her family on holiday. I have visited many places. I'm a little bit homesick. Soon I will travel the long way home again. We are waiting for some pictures, but I will leave here by 16/10/02 at the latest.
See you soon.

Today we will write the last words from the Faroe Islands.
Thank you Kidd for a nice time having you here. Hope you will come back some day , or send us some words about you and your friends in Albany Creek State School.
Hope you will have a nice journey back home. It will take some days, because home is far away from here. It will take some days.
Bye, Bye!
Kidd
